Snohomish Police Arrest Former Bookkeeper who Embezzled $200,000

Snohomish Police today capped a 3 month Embezzlement investigation by arresting a 42 year old Gold Bar woman for Theft in the 1st Degree.

The woman, a former employee of a Snohomish building firm was confronted by her employer in May when an independent CPA firm established that there were sizeable funds missing from the business' accounts.

The suspect admitted to her employer that she had taken the funds.

She was thereupon terminated from her employment with the firm. The employer contacted the Snohomish Police Department.

The Department's Detectives then began a 3 month forensic investigation culminating in the arrest without incident yesterday outside her Gold Bar home.

Chief John Turner was full of praise for his Detectives. "The taxpayers of the City of Snohomish are certainly getting their money's worth out of our Detective Unit. This is an example of professional, patient police work, that usually does not grab headlines, but is, nonetheless, very important to the community. An effective Police Department is an important part of the recipe for a community's economic success. I am proud of the men and women of our department, and in this case, our Detective Unit."

The Gold Bar woman was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on the charge of Theft 1.
