Snohomish County Girl WINS 2010 National American Miss

Miss Jazmine Morgan, daughter of Heidi and Donovan Cate from Gold Bar, WA has earned the opportunity to attend Nationals through her successfully scored events at the Miss Washington Preteen Pageant.

She was crowned Miss Washington Preteen 2010-2011 over Labor Day weekend at the Bellevue Hilton. She also placed as 2nd Runner up in the Spokes Model competition where she gave a speech about drugs and alcohol, "Just Say No!" She competed against 78 girls from around the state during the pageant weekend.

Now she will be competing in the National Pageant which will be held in Anaheim, California at Disneyland during Thanksgiving week. She will be representing the great state of Washington where she will have the opportunity to win her share of over $500,000 in cash and prizes!

The National American Miss Pageants are for "Today's Girl" and "Tomorrow's Leaders." The pageant program is based on inner beauty, as well as poise, presentation, and offers an "All American Spirit" of fun for family and friends. Emphasis is placed on the importance of gaining self-confidence, learning new skills, learning good attitudes about competition, and setting and achieving personal goals.

The pageant seeks to recognize the accomplishments of each girl while encouraging her to set goals for her future! Jazmine has been competing for 2 years in pageants. She got her start in Gold Bar and the Gold Dust Days pageant sponsored by the local Red Hat ladies. One of the Red Hat Ladies, Karen Howard from Gold Bar actually loaned Jazmine the dress that she wore for her formal gown competition.

Jazmine is an eighth grader at Sultan Middle School. She is involved with band, volleyball, soccer, participating in local events, community service projects and the Sultan Lip Sync.
