Lacrosse Leaders unchanged

For the second consecutive week Issaquah and Wenatchee held court as the top boys lacrosse teams in Washington state, while the Lake Sammamish Lacrosse Club remained the top girls squad in the weekly ScoreCzar prep lacrosse poll released on Sunday.

In the state-wide OPR ranking determined only by games against Washington state opponents, the top Boys Division I teams remained constant from Week 2 with Issaquah, Mercer Island, Eastside Catholic and Bellevue, which all won their games, occupying the top four positions while Tahoma, also a winner, moved up a spot to No. 5. Auburn Riverside, Curtis, Sehome-Bellingham, Kamiak and Emerald Ridge-Puyallup round-out the top 10.

In Boys Division II play, Seattle Academy, previously ranked No. 4, moved into second spot with a win over Meadowdale and a narrow loss to Division I Bainbridge, behind Wenatchee, which won its instate contest over Gonzaga Prep, followed by Shorecrest, which retained its No. 3 spot from the previous week despite dropping contests to Division I Snohomish and Everett.

The No. 4 position found a new resident this week with Spokane’s University-Central Valley moving to No. 4 while King’s Way remained stagnant at No. 5 and Stanwood moved up a spot to No. 6.

The Boys Division II poll is rounded-out by Spokane’s Gonzaga Prep, Union, Vashon Island and Southridge High Schools, which were all previously ranked below the top 10, moving into the next four positions.

On the girls side, following the idle Lake Sammamish Club, Bainbridge, which dropped its game to Snohomish, and Issaquah, with a pair of wins, retain their No. 2 and No. 3 slots while Eastside Catholic with a win moved into the No. 4 position. The next five are occupied by Snohomish-Glacier Peak, which slipped a spot despite upsetting Bainbridge, Lakeside and Mercer Island, which were previously not ranked in the top 10, followed by Lake Tapps, Puyallup and Bellevue East.

The state-wide weekly electronic ranking for prep lacrosse is based on a team’s Overall Power Rating or “OPR” which is an objective calculation of a team’s offensive output, defense and ongoing strength of schedule.
