Hikers Rescued

Teams from the Snohomish County Search and Rescue unit have rescued injured hikers in two separate incidents in the last 24 hours.

The first involved a rescue of a woman in her 20’s with an injured foot near Lake 22. The call came in around 7 p.m. on August 5 that she was unable to hike out on her own due the nature of her injuries. A team of 30 volunteers from Search and Rescue located the victim, placed her in a litter and carried her out around 11 p.m. Her injuries were not believed to be serious.

The second incident occurred near Lake Janus along the Pacific Crest Trail when a male hiker reported that he had broken his ankle. The Helicopter Rescue Team was notified and SnoHAWK10, the Sheriff’s Office helicopter, was launched around 10:30 a.m. on August 6. The victim was hoisted from the area around noon and flown to Gold Bar where he was met by medics from Fire District 26.
