Hiker Located, Rescued Yesterday

Yesterday, Snohomish County Search and Rescue teams located and rescued a hiker on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) who had reportedly become ill.

The 56 year-old female victim and her 23 year-old female hiking companion activated a “SPOT” satellite beacon when they realized they would be unable to travel on their own to safety.

The beacon activation was reported around 10 a.m. to the Search and Rescue on Sunday from near Byrne Lake and Kennedy Ridge, west of Glacier Peak, on the PCT.

The Helicopter Rescue Team reached the area in SnoHAWK10 around noon. Both women were flown to the Snohomish Search and Rescue facility, Taylor’s Landing, where they were met by aid crews.

The hometowns of both women are unknown.
