Community Transit Board to Hold Public Hearing

The Community Transit Board of Directors will have a busy meeting tomorrow, November 6.

The board will hold a public hearing on the agency’s proposed 2015 budget, which includes the addition of 27,000 of new bus service, as well as the purchase of 17 Double Tall replacement buses and upgrades of several park & ride facilities. The agency is proposing to spend more money next year on service and facilities thanks to rising sales tax revenue. The proposed 2015 budget can be found at www.communitytransit.org/budget.

In the same meeting, the board will award 10 surplus vans to area non-profits in the culmination of the Van GO program. In this program, Community Transit awards surplus vehicles that would otherwise go to public auction to local organizations that demonstrate a transportation need. Community Transit received 27 applications from local non-profits for the 10 vans available.

Also at this meeting, the board will receive a presentation on how the agency proposes to allocate its 27,000 new service hours next year. The proposed service plan will be made available for public comment on Friday, November 7.

The meeting will take place at 3 p.m. Thursday, November 6 at Community Transit headquarters, 7100 Hardeson Road in Everett (accessible on Everett Transit Route 8).
