Weeknight closures of southbound SR 529

Marysville and Everett area drivers should prepare for continuing weeknight closures of southbound State Route 529.

Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will close all southbound lanes of SR 529 Sunday, Feb. 22 through the morning of Friday, Feb. 27, nightly from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. The southbound Interstate 5 exit to SR 529 will also be closed. Southbound drivers should use I-5 during the closures. Local access to Smith Island locations will be available via the 4th Street/Tulalip exit.

In addition, the around-the-clock weekend closure scheduled begin on Friday, Feb. 20 is canceled.

During the closures the contractor crews will continue to make adjustments to new machinery installed as part of a special bridge repair project completed in October 2013. The new equipment is used to raise and lower the bridge drawspan.

In the Puget Sound area, drivers can get real-time traffic information on their phone with the WSDOT traffic app, by tracking the WSDOT traffic Twitter feed, and get advanced information from the What’s Happening Now page.
