Rebecca Hover honored

Each year, Leadership Snohomish County selects one graduate to recognize with its Distinguished Alumni Award. Choosing a single recipient, in an organization devoted to community leadership development, is no simple task.

As Board President Jonalyn Ivory-Woolf said, “The recipient of this award must be a leader among leaders; an individual who is making a difference in Snohomish County, creating a stronger community in which to work and live. They must walk their talk.”

‎Rebecca Hover, LSC Signature Class of 2009, current board member and co-chair of the Alumni Committee, has been presented with this year’s award.

As Snohomish County’s Director of Communication, Rebecca works closely with officials from county departments and outside agencies as well as community members. In any normal year, this job is a monumental one. It requires finesse and patience. This year, Rebecca has not only managed her routine work with Snohomish County public communications, but also communication around the disaster of the SR530 Slide Event and the tragic Marysville Pilchuck High School shooting. Crafting a message that is respectful to families, informative, and accurate is an art. A balance of poise and information, of respect and education, is a tightrope that Rebecca Hover walks with grace and diplomacy.

LSC leaders were so pleased to recognize Rebecca with this well-deserved award at the Snohomish County Update breakfast event with Executive John Lovick. The event was presented by Economic Alliance Snohomish County, a valuable LSC community partner.
