Each year the YMCA of Snohomish County conducts its Annual Campaign to raise funds critical to the development of children, teens, and families throughout its five branch operations, Big Brothers Big Sisters affiliate office, and Stanwood-Camano outreach initiative.

As of April 30, 2015 a total of $1,356,321 was raised, the most ever raised in the history of the annual campaign.

“The Y is more than a gym. It’s a cause,” said Scott Washburn, YMCA President/CEO. “As a charity, we’re dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving the nation’s health and well-being, and giving back and providing support to our neighbors.”

Because of the Y, thousands of children and teens throughout Snohomish County cultivate the values, skills, and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health, and educational achievement.

The YMCA 2015 Annual Campaign was led by the following community volunteer leaders:

As a leading nonprofit organization in Snohomish County, the YMCA’s Financial Assistance Program, supported by contributions to the Annual Campaign and United Way, provided $1,921,015 in direct financial assistance to 9,927 individuals during 2014.

In addition, $3,902,671 million was provided in youth and family program subsidies, ensuring the presence of caring adults to nurture the potential of 36,537 children and teens across Snohomish County.

Last year, charitable gifts from YMCA donors made it possible for 23,912 kids to have a safe place to learn and play; for one-in-three Snohomish County teens to gain self-confidence and academic guidance; and 61,793 adults to participate in healthy living activities.

“Throughout Snohomish County, countless people know the YMCA. However, there’s so much more to our Y than one might think,” said Kelly Shepherd, Campaign Chair. “I see a movie of many images. It’s a new match at BBBS, a teen participating in MAP to find their personal dream, an adult challenging and winning the battle with an illness via programs such as LIVESTRONG at the YMCA for cancer survivors, the Diabetes Prevention Program, Pedaling for Parkinson’s, or one of the many other programs provided via the Y. Support of the campaign helps facilitate these and many other opportunities.” 

Ninety four cents of every Annual Campaign dollar contributed provides direct financial assistance to low-income families and support to programs such as child care, youth development, teen services, water safety, mentoring, and summer camp. These funds together with grants from the United Way of Snohomish County, corporations, and foundations subsidize a variety of enriching programs for individuals of all ages.
