ECA Announces New Arts for Everyone

Edmonds Center for the Arts (ECA) is proud to announce the expansion of the Arts for Everyone program. In a new Arts for Everyone Membership initiative, ECA invites families qualifying for Washington State’s Free and Reduced-Price Meal programs and/or DSHS benefits to purchase $2 tickets to performances in the 2015/16 ECA Family Series.

In ECA’s 2014/15 season, over 1,700 young people attended a live performance through the Arts for Everyone program, which in its pilot year offered subsidized tickets to ECA Education Matinees for high-need schools in our region. Next season, with the generous support of the Hazel Miller Foundation, ECA is able to continue this commitment to local schools – and expand Arts for Everyone into the 4-performance Family Series. Qualifying families are invited to apply for an Arts for Everyone Membership card, to be used in person or over the phone through the ECA Box Office to purchase reduced-price tickets to Saturday matinee Family Series performances.

ECA’s Family Series engages community members of all ages in diverse and exciting arts experiences, through theatre, music and interdisciplinary arts performances. In the 2015/16 season, the Family Series opens with Havana Hop! (Oct. 17), an interactive dance performance by master teaching artist Paige Hernandez. Havana Hop! tells the story of Yelia, a young girl who travels to Cuba to visit her grandmother and add a salsa flavor to her own hip-hop style. The Family Series continues with Okaidja & Shokoto (Nov. 21), Big Bad Wolf (Mar. 19), and Mud Bay Jugglers (May 7). All Family Series performances take place at 11:00 am at Edmonds Center for the Arts.

The objective of Arts for Everyone is to increase access to the performing arts for young people and families in Edmonds and the surrounding community. The Arts for Everyone Membership Program places no restrictions on what constitutes a “family” – members are encouraged only to bring loved ones with whom they want to share a live performance.

Regular-priced Family Series tickets are $10 per person or $32 for a subscription, with complimentary tickets available for babes-in-arms 18 months or younger. To purchase tickets, visit www.ec4arts.org or call the ECA Box Office at 425.275.9595. For more information about the Arts for Everyone Membership Program and to apply, please contact Gillian Jones, Education & Outreach Manager, at gillian@ec4arts.org or 425.275.9483.
