Transportation investments coming to Snohomish

A comprehensive statewide transportation revitalization plan passed the legislature last week, clearing the way for improvements to and critical investments in transportation projects throughout the state.

The $15 billion bipartisan plan will be implemented in phases over the next 16 years. Transportation investments will be made in roads, highways, rail, bridges, transit and other projects critical to commerce, infrastructure and a 21st century economy.
“Our state’s infrastructure is in dire need of investments and improvements. Passage of this plan comes at an absolutely critical time,” said Sen. Steve Hobbs, D-Lake Stevens, the Senate Democrats’ lead transportation negotiator.
“The most important benefit of these investments are of course the approximately 200,000 jobs that will be created over the life of this plan. Not only is this plan a boon for our state’s economy, it is also a potential game changer throughout our shared communities.
“This final agreement comes after literally years of work. This investment is a shining example of the good that can be accomplished when we all work together with the best interests of our state as the ultimate goal.”
Hundreds of millions of dollars are slated to be invested in projects throughout Snohomish County. Some of the projects slated for the Snohomish area include:

• SR 9/Snohomish River Bridge Replacement
• SR 9/SR 204 Interchange (Frontier Village Intersection)
