Drivers who use US 2 in Index should be prepared for a new speed limit starting Tuesday, Oct. 20.

Maintenance staff from the Washington State Department of Transportation will install new speed limit signs on that day that will lower the speed limit from 60 mph to 50 mph between mile post 35 (just before Mount Index River Road) to mile post 36.32 (just after Index Junction). WSDOT is making this change as a way of addressing safety and traffic needs in the area.
