Search for Shunn and Patenaude

The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office continues to search for the bodies of 45 year-old Patrick Shunn and his wife, 46 year-old Monique Patenaude.

A statewide manhunt has grown into a national hunt, and could potentially turn international.

Brothers John Blaine Reed, 53, and Tony Clyde Reed, 49, are suspected of murdering an Arlington couple and are believed to be on the run from authorities. A Snohomish County Superior Court judge signed arrest warrants for the convicted felons on Tuesday, setting bail at $5 million apiece. Prosecutors also charged the Reeds with two counts of first-degree (premeditated) murder and unlawful possession of a firearm in the second degree.

At least 25 sheriff's deputies and volunteers and one dog are searching a 23+ square mile area around the victim's residence, near the 27800 block of Whitman Rd. Units in the area include man trackers from Search and Rescue (SAR) and SWAT, a SAR swift water team, a SAR human remains detection dog team, the Helicopter Rescue Team (HRT) in SnoHAWK1, and the SAR operations support unit. Ground teams will search areas off nearby roads and spur roads, wooded areas and waterways, and HRT will search the area by air.

Detectives continue to work with local and federal law enforcement agencies to locate 53 year-old John Blaine Reed and his brother, 49 year-old Tony Clyde Reed who are wanted for the murder of Shunn and Patenaude. Both men are convicted felons and are believed to be armed and dangerous. Their current location remains unknown.
