Domestic Violence Suspect

MILL CREEK — Detectives are requesting tips after a domestic violence suspect eluded arrest in Mill Creek on Wednesday morning.

The suspect, James D. Britton, was last seen wearing a gray zip-up sweatshirt or jacket with gray sweatpants.

A domestic violence assault was reported at 7:18 a.m. at the Heatherwood Apartments. Britton had already left the apartment, but he was later found in a car in the 13500 block of the Bothell-Everett Highway. From there, police chased Britton onto the highway where he reportedly smashed his car into another vehicle. The other driver was not injured, according to the Mill Creek Police Department.

The chase continued into unincorporated south Everett. Near Voyager Middle School, Britton got out and ran. A police dog was not able to find him.

Voyager Middle School, Mariner High School and Discovery Elementary School were on lockdowns for a brief period during the search, according to the school district.

Britton is wanted on suspicion of violating a no-contact order, eluding, misdemeanor assault, hit-and-run and driving with a suspended license. The victim in the assault did not have serious injuries, according to investigators.
