Washington State Ferries salutes our veterans

Veterans Day has particular meaning at Washington State Ferries, which carries veterans and military families every day and connects military facilities and communities throughout Puget Sound.

On Friday, Nov. 11, at 11:11 a.m., WSF will honor the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces by observing a moment of silence on all ferries underway at that time. Following the moment of silence, the ferries will blow their whistles in unison to recognize the bravery and sacrifice of our veterans.

“All of us at the Washington State Department of Transportation are grateful to those who have served and defended our country,” Secretary Roger Millar said. “This includes more than 600 veterans at WSDOT who continue to serve the people of Washington through their daily work keeping our state transportation system moving.”
