Troy Smith receives national leadership award

Troy Smith, Medical Services Officer for Snohomish County Fire District 7 was the recipient of the David Nelson Leadership Award at the 2017 Ambulance Service Manager’s (ASM) Program. The award — named in honor of Dr. David Nelson, one of the ASM coordinators—is presented each year to an individual who exemplifies a commitment to leadership as determined and selected by the other participants in the program.

Smith has been with the District for almost 15 years, currently serving as a Lieutenant and Medical Services Officer for the department. Previously he served with Albuquerque Ambulance and the Santa Fe County (New Mexico) Fire Department.
“Troy earned the respect of his classmates and exemplifies the values of Dr. Nelson and the program,” said Jay Fitch, PhD, founding partner of Fitch & Associates. The ASM program is presented by Fitch & Associates in cooperation with the American Ambulance Association. It is a multi-week experiential learning program that was conducted this year in Colorado Springs, CO. More than one thousand EMS leaders have received certificates in the in the 22-year history of the program. Fitch & Associates is the leading consulting firm for emergency services in the country, helping agencies and developing leaders for more than three decades.

Smith accepted the award at the annual American Ambulance Association National Conference on November 8, 2016.
