ECA to screen Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

Edmonds Center for the Arts (ECA) continues its film programming with a screening of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) on Thursday, February 9. Prior to the film, patrons will have the opportunity to go backstage for a special cabaret-style happy hour (6:30 pm), featuring live Brazilian and Latin music by Maracujá. The film starts at 7:30 pm.

Launched in October 2016, ECA’s Film Cabaret Series offers screenings of classic, contemporary and cult films whose stunning cinematography and iconic music were made to be experienced on the big screen. The series marks the beginning of ongoing programming that showcases ECA’s state-of-the-art digital cinema system, generously donated in 2013 by long-time ECA donor and supporter, Anne Gittinger.

In Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Robert Redford and Paul Newman star as outlaw buddies who are running for their lives to Bolivia with Katharine Ross – and are not exactly sure who's chasing them. This classic of the changing West won five Academy Awards.

Seattle-based trio Maracujá invites audiences on a journey around Latin America through music. From fiery Cuban son and Brazilian samba-funk to soothing bossa nova and wistful boleros, Maracujá plays music for dancing, music for listening, and music to make you smile.

ECA’s Film Cabaret Series continues with 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) on March 9 and The Artist (2011) on April 6. All films are preceded by a cabaret-style happy hour featuring live entertainment. These special events aim to give cabaret attendees a behind-the-scenes experience, with patrons seated at bistro tables on the ECA stage. No-host bar and concessions are available.

Tickets to ECA’s Film Cabaret Series are $15, and include admission to the pre-film cabaret ($10 film only.) 3+ Show Packs are available to patrons purchasing tickets to three or more film events in the Film Cabaret Series. Purchase Show Packs and single tickets online at www.ec4arts.org, or through the ECA Box Office at 425.275.9595 or 410 4th Ave N.
