Seattle Hill Rd to Close April 20-23

Snohomish County Public Works is entering the home stretch of re-building Seattle Hill Rd. A full closure of a section of the road will be necessary for upcoming construction activities. Seattle Hill Rd will be closed 24/7 for approximately three full days from 132nd St SE to north of 136th St SE. The closure begins at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018 and will re-open by 4:30 a.m. on Monday, April 23, 2018. The intersection at Seattle Hill Rd and 136th St SE will remain open to traffic approaching from the south.

Residents whose only access to their property is through this section will be allowed through the closed segment of Seattle Hill Rd. Access through the closure will only be available via the north end of Seattle Hill Rd. Residents who can access their homes via alternate routes, will be required to do so. A detour route for the closure will be via 132nd St SE and 35th Ave SE.

The Seattle Hill Rd improvement project, spanning from 132nd St SE to 35th Ave SE is expected to be completed in August 2018. The 1.5 mile project includes widening the road to three lanes, adding a center turn lane, bike lanes, curbs and sidewalks. Since construction kicked off in April 2017, crews have installed 6,000 feet of storm drain, 13,000 linear feet of curb and gutter, and 8,000 linear feet of sidewalk. Two layers of asphalt will be laid prior to final paving and striping, to occur in the coming months.

The estimated project construction cost is $8 million. Funding for this project is from the Federal Surface Transportation Fund, distributed by the Puget Sound Regional Council, Washington State Transportation Improvement Board, the city of Mill Creek and Snohomish County.
