Softball 4A District Playoff Games

The first ever WES-KING Bi-District tournament was a homerun! Huge crowds were treated to 8 competitive games between some of the top talent in the state. The outstanding efforts of all teams should be recognized. The recaps are from first-hand accounts and stats available online. I apologize if any of the names are wrong or you don’t agree with rulings by the scorekeepers. This is not official but these athletes should all be recognized for their efforts. Don’t miss the next round of games at Phil Johnson Fields on Wednesday May 15.

Game 1: North Creek 0, Jackson 4
Highlights
Macy Tarbox provided all the offense Jackson would need with a 2-run HR in the top of 1st inning.
Iyanla DeJesus shut down the North Creek offense allowing 2 hits and striking out 14 batters over 7 innings.
Libby Peoples hit a double and pitched a complete game allowing 4 runs for North Creek.

Game 2: Kamiak 2, Woodinville 5
Highlights
Bailey Burger-Moore and Taylor Fitch each went 2-3 with Fitch hitting a solo HR in the bottom of the sixth to lead Woodinville to victory.
Alex Nyberg and Rachael Rhinehart combined to hold Kamiak to 2 runs over 7 innings striking out 6 Kamiak batters.
Natalie Smullin and Camdyn Robinson each had two hits for Kamiak.
Katelyn Sonnichsen pitched a complete game for Kamiak allowing 5 runs while striking out 6 Woodinville batters.

Game 3: Bothell 6, Redmond 5
Highlights
Charley Bishop, Izzy Brandolini, and Katie Fodge each hit doubles to kickstart the offense for the underdog Bothell Cougars. Fodge’s double in the 6th inning scored Tatum Powers to give Bothell the 6-5 lead that they would not relinquish.
Rylee Kim hit a pinch-hit solo HR to centerfield to lead off the 5th knotting the score at 5-5.
Haley Hanson and Jenn Cummings lead the Redmond offense with 2 hits each.
Kiki Milloy pitched a complete game striking out 7 batters in the loss.

Game 4: Inglemoor 16, Monroe 7
Highlights
Offense was king in this game.
For Inglemoor: O’Nalisa Hall- 2 hits including a double. Sofia Fike- 2 hits, both homeruns with 4 rbi. Taylor Waara- 2 hits and she pitched a complete game for the win. Camryn Scott- 3 hits and 3 runs scored. Maddy Brown- 3 hits, including a double with 3 runs scored and 3 rbi. Caroline Pohl- 2 hits including a double.
For Monroe: River Mahler- 2 hits, both doubles. Hannah Hvitved- 2 hits including a homerun. Elise Allen-Grand Slam in the top of the 1st.

Game 5: Jackson 9, Newport 6
Highlights
Macy Tarbox went 3-3 with a Homerun and 5 rbi to lead Jackson to the win. Jessica Asantor hit a 2-run Homerun in the top of the 7th to solidify the victory.
This game was not without a little controversy…tied 6-6 in the top of the seventh Jackson executed a sacrifice bunt and Newport recorded the out at first. Newport then threw behind the runner rounding second base. Diving back to second the runner appeared to be out. The umpire behind the play ruled safe and the call was not overturned by the home-plate umpire. Jackson took advantage of the call and the Asantor home-run capped the 3 run inning.
Iyanla De Jesus pitched a complete game striking out 16 Newport batters.
Alexandra Richards lead Newport with 2 hits including a double and she scored 2 runs.
Hanako Hirai pitched a complete game striking out 5 Jackson batters in the loss.

Game 6: Woodinville 8, Lake Stevens 9
Highlights
This back and forth game was filled with great hits, timely defensive plays for both team and the craziness was punctuated when lights went out heading into the decisive top of the 7th inning.
Kiley Hubby hit 2 homeruns and had 4 rbi to lead the Lake Stevens offense.
Emma Fortney hit a game tying 2-run homerun in the bottom of the 7th inning to the knot the score at 8-8.
Avery Henderson had 3 hits, including 2 triples, and she scored the winning run from first base on a game winning double to leftfield by teammate Cory Bardue.
Kaylie Hoskins pitched a complete game striking out 14 Woodinville batters to earn the win.
Alex Nyberg had two hits which included a triple and home-run collecting 4 rbi for Woodinville.
Nyberg was intentionally walked in the top of the 7th with Lake Stevens leading 6-5. Mikaelie Sullivian came through with a clutch 2-run double giving Woodinville the lead 7-6.
Rachael Rhinehart pitched a complete game striking out 7 Lake Stevens batters in the loss.

Game 7: Bothell 10, Glacier Peak 14
Highlights
Another back and forth game featuring a ton of offense and an interruption when the lights went out.
Glacier Peak took advantage of 9 walks and some timely hitting in their win over Bothell.
Harlee Carpenter had the lone extra base hit for Glacier Peak with an rbi double in the bottom of the 2nd.
Kendall Curtis singled in the bottom of the 5th inning to drive in the tying run Ashley Schmer and the go-ahead run Meleah Menchaca.
Makayla Miller pitched a complete game striking out 6 Bothell batters to earn the win for the Grizzlies.
Tatum Powers, Brooke Davis, Morgan Shults and Kelsey Fortney each recorded multiple hits for Bothell in the loss.

Game 8: Inglemoor 10, Eastlake 11
Highlights
Inglemoor took advantage of homeruns early and rallied late but came up 1 run short losing to Eastlake.
Kennadi Wuebel and Hailey King hit back to back homeruns in the first inning to give Inglemoor a 3-0 lead.
A Camryn Scott single in the 3rd gave Inglemoor a 4-0 lead.
A bases loaded walk to Ellie Evans, a 2-rbi double by Amelia Roberts and a single by Belle Schmidt tied it up at 4-4 for Eastlake in the bottom of the 4th.
A Belle DeOliveira double and a Megan Cotton single in the 5th gave Eastlake a 4-7 lead.
A Taylor Waara single in the top of 6th closed the lead to 5-7.
Eastlake took advantage of a walk an error and some timely base hits to push their lead to 5-11 going into the top of the 7th.
A Madalyn Brown rbi single and a Grand Slam by O’Nalisa Hall brought Inglemoor within 1 run of Eastlake in the top of the 7th but Eastlake held on for the 10-11 win.
Camryn Snyder pitched a complete game with 11 strikeouts to earn the win for Eastlake.
