Chamber takes on Transportation

The Snohomish chamber of commerce had its monthly CIA meeting at Collector's Choice restaurant Wednesday. Colleen Hill led the meeting with a great turnout of business leaders and city staff. In attendance: Karen Guzak, Maureen Loomis, Tim Haden, Frank Straum, Chief Turner, Colleen Hill, Todd Elvig, Ann Stantan and Pam Osborne. A very intense conversation on the state of transportation in and around Snohomish.

As traffic in Snohomish reaches critical mass, action to protect business and residents is required sooner rather than later. Whether we like it or not Snohomish is the choke point for traffic moving from all directions. Relief is needed on Hwy 9, US 2 and even Avenue D. Rail is also a new option that is being watched by the new rails and trails committee.

Snohomish has a comprehensive transportation plan that is due to be updated next year. The plan will be looked at by the city staff and will be forwarded to council for recommended changes next year. It is always encouraged to contact your legislator with any comments you may have.

Together we can get the change we need!
