Waters rising on state highways |

Today coastal areas in Clallam, Grays Harbor, and Pacific counties, in addition to areas in Pierce and Lewis counties, have water over the roadway in places. Forecasts show rain moving into Southwest Washington, so drivers there should prepare for rainy conditions. By late Wednesday, forecasts show drier weather. |

Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon has issued an emergency declaration to respond to flooding throughout the area. The emergency declaration frees up county resources for quicker response to flooding impacts and helps the county document damages for federal reporting. |

Moving Corrections to Sheriff's Office |

council has approved moving Snohomish County's Corrections Department out from
under County Executive Aaron Reardon's oversight and into Sheriff John Lovick office

This Tuesday, the area could see as much as 4 inches of rain, followed by evening winds between 25 and 40 mph. On Wednesday, the remnants of a tropical storm could produce another 10 inches or more of rainfall. |

Council Holds the Line on General Property Taxes |

Even facing a minimum $20 million budget shortfall next year as sales and excise tax revenues continue to fall, the county council decided it had to hold the line on the county's general property tax levy at approximately $.70 per $1,000 of assessed value, or about $245 for a $350,000 home. |
