Glacier Peak high school of Snohomish will be coming home with a fourth place trophy in class 3A boys Basketball WAII state tournament at the Tacoma Dome. Glacier Peak only in its second year of existence managed to win the Northwest division and go on to state tournament playoffs and advance to the quad finals before losing to Lakes. The Grizzlies snapped right back by winning their first consolation game against Rainier Beach and guaranteeing themselves a fourth or seventh place that would be determined by today's game against the Bellevue Wolverines. The Grizzlies came out strong in the first quarter and were up by four early, but the Wolverines came right back out scoring the grizzlies by nine points in the second quarter putting them ahead at halftime by a score of 34 to 30. Going into the third quarter the Wolverines continued the pressure outside and pushed ahead another four points ending the third quarter 48 to 40. The grizzlies Jack Bonner hit a couple of three pointers and lead the grizzlies to rally with a 12 to 0 run late in the fourth quarter. The Wolverines were leading by six with less than four minutes to play, the 12 to 0 run left them sitting behind by six with less than a minute left in the fourth. Two more baskets by Bellevue in one by Glacier Peak left the final score at 63 to 59 in favor of the Grizzlies. Jack Bonner had 19 points and 11 rebounds to help lead his team to finish state in fourth place. This victory was particularly sweet in the fact that it was Bellevue that not Glacier Peak out of the football playoffs last November.
