Klahaya days in Snohomish this past weekend is estimated to have had possibly the largest attendance ever. The sunset parade on Saturday night alone had an attendance estimated at nearly 17,000 people. Klahaya days started out with a bang, literally, at the balloon glow and fire in the sky event held out at Harvey Field. Absolutely the best balloon glow event ever held in the opinion of every visitor that had been to a previous event. The evening started with a community reunion and barbecue with live music until dusk. At that point hot air balloons began setting up west of the Carnival along Highway 9. Pretty much an average Klahaya Day's balloon glow event so far, but wait, what's that in the distance? More balloons of course! WOW! One thing you will never see, that is a hot air balloon flying at night and night was fast approaching. It is illegal to fly a hot air balloon in the dark although most would think it would be a beautiful sight. So having the balloons landing as darkness fell was a beautiful sight. There were four balloons along Hwy 9 and three others landing near the end of the runway on the other side or East of the Carnival. Both sets of balloons continued their colorful fiery display for over an hour before the grand fireworks display began. Saturday brought more events and more people to Snohomish for Klahaya Days than anyone can remember. The sunset parade that started at 6 PM had an estimated 17,000 people and went on for nearly 2 hours. The grand marshal of this year's parade was Bob McDaniel, lifelong resident and owner of McDaniel's Do it Best Center. The MC for the events and the parade was JD the DJ. Sunday Snohomish was host to the annual Klahaya Days classic car show and it was standing room only, literally! People were packed in to historic downtown Snohomish like sardines and enjoying every minute of these vintage American muscle cars and one very old electric car. The entrepreneurism of Snohomish came out in a new way this year during the Klahaya Days weekend. Due to the large crowds and minimal parking, paid parking popped up on over a dozen parking lots offering a space for a few dollars. This was a bargain considering the distance you may have to travel if you look for parking in the residential area. All in all the visitors to Snohomish found their way to First Street and had a grand time helping Cadyville celebrate their historic event. The Snohomish Times is boasting the largest collection of video and photos of the three main events during this past weekend's celebration. BALLOON GLOW PHOTOS | PARADE PHOTOS | CAR SHOW PHOTOS
