Councilmember Randy Hamlin submitted his letter of resignation to the City Council at its July 6th meeting, due to increasing commitments at work and the desire to support the activities of his family. Councilmember Hamlin was first elected in 2005 and served as Mayor from 2006 through 2009. His resignation will be effective August 4th. As a result the City is now seeking applications to fill the vacancy through Fall 2011. The position will be included in the 2011 General Election as a special election for two years to fill the balance of the term expiring December 31, 2013. Any candidate must be a registered voter of the City at the time of application and a resident of the City for at least one year. Applications are available at City Hall, 116 Union Avenue; by downloading a copy from the Citys web page at www.ci.snohomish.wa.us; or calling the City Clerk at 360-282-3155. Applications must be received by the City Clerk no later than 4 p.m. Wednesday, August 4th.
