Lutz and Staudacher Families make a Statement

Statement from Randy Lutz, April’s father:

“My wife and I want to take this opportunity to thank our family, friends and the community of Snohomish for the outpouring of support you have shown us during this difficult and tragic time. Your thoughts, prayers, kind words and generous contributions have been greatly appreciated, and a much-needed source of strength for our family.

“We would especially like to thank the team of paramedics and the clinical staff atProvidenceMedicalCenter, whose quick actions and expertise were so crucial in this traumatic situation, and most likely saved April’s life. She is in the hospital still recovering from the attack, but we are very happy to report that she is doing better and continues to progress each day.

“Most of all, April is very fortunate for the actions of two of her schoolmates. First, Bekah Staudacher stepped in and did her best to stop such a brutal and horrific act. We are forever grateful for her courageous and selfless actions under the most trying circumstances. So many would have run away, and we can’t thank you enough for doing what you did. April would also like to send a special thank you to Benjamin King, the young man who held her in the bathroom until the paramedics arrived. Thank you so much for consoling and caring for our daughter at the time when she needed someone most.”

Statement from Mark Staudacher, Bekah’s father.

“Our family would like to extend its deepest appreciation for the tremendous support shown to us by everyone in Snohomish. Your demonstrations of sympathy are more uplifting than you can possibly know. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

“Bekah has been overwhelmed with the abundance of kindness she has received from family and friends, not to mention students at other local high schools. Your solidarity in her time of need means the world to her, and is a true testament to the character of this community. She continues to recover physically and emotionally, and we are all looking forward to returning to our everyday lives soon.”
