Cattle Producers Food Bank Donation
by Teresa King Cattle Producers of Washington (CPoW) and Stevens County Cattlemans Association, with assistance from Gallo Meats and Bull Hill Guest Ranch donated 500 pounds of "Product of Stevens County" Lean Ground Beef valued at over $2,000. The beef was delivered to Stevens County Food Banks on March 30th by CPoW District 4 Director, Scott Nielsen and Stevens County Cattlemans Association Director, Don Dashiell.
It was important to both organizations that the donation be "local" American lean beef for the receiving families, not only to support local ranchers, but to provide the most nutritious, healthiest beef to those in need. The beef was born and raised in Stevens County by local rancher Kenny Marx. Then purchased by the Stevens County Cattlemans Association with help from CPoW, Bull Hill Guest Ranch and processed locally by Gallo Meats of Colville at no cost to the associations.
A 3-ounce serving of lean beef is a superb source of protein, zinc, vitamin B12, selenium, phosphorus, niacin, vitamin B6, iron and riboflavin. Beefs combination of nutrients can play a powerful role in fueling children and the elderly who are especially in need of this protein packed product.
CPoW is a grassroots organization whose purpose is to sustain, improve and protect Washington States live cattle industry; to address the market interests of Washington live cattle producers; and to promote the heritage of ranching for present and future generations.
