Glacier Peak Hosts NFL Camp
Glacier Peak high school goes above and beyond to make additional training available to area football athletes by hosting this year’s NFL HSPD camp. The NFL High School Player Development program addresses challenges facing high school football programs across the country. NFL HSPD serves as a resource for both high school player and coaches. The program emphasizes safety and concussion awareness, character development and life skills, and football fundamentals. Head football coach Rory Rosenbach was anxious to get his players involved with this national program. “It’s a real honor for our school to have been chosen to host this NFL HSPD event” RO said. Glacier Peak High School was one of only three sites chosen in Washington State. NFL HSPD camps occur April through August and include 5 training sessions. Participants receive a 13-month NFL HSPD Student Planner while coaches receive the matching NFL HSPD Coach Planner. Coaches also receive an NFL HSPD Instructional DVD and Practice Plan. During the 1st session of camp, it is mandatory for site managers and coaches to cover the following topics: Concussion Awareness, NCAA Guidelines and Time Management along with at least 4 other life skills topics. During the remaining four sessions, participants are taught football fundamentals for one offensive and one defensive position. Players from all over the area including Jackson, Lake Stevens, Woodinville, Monroe and Bothell attended this unique training opportunity that was offered by the NFL. Players we spoke with said that all good football programs create learning opportunities at every turn.
