Glacier Peak WINS BIG Game
What many are calling the Dick Armstrong Cup finally came to fruition in Snohomish Friday. The cross valley contest between old and new brought nearly 6500 football fans from every corner of the Snohomish school district. The atmosphere was very festive and the anticipation of the contest had many recalling other big games in their past. This was actually a large family reunion of sorts or maybe big brother and the stepson from the hill. Everyone seemed to know everyone else and the blue or red colors were blurred for just a little while before the game started. Hard feelings over the construction of the new high school have long been felt by old Snohomish alumni but they are getting the last laugh with millions more being spent on the complete reconstruction of Snohomish high school. The game that many thought would never happen started with Snohomish receiving the ball first. Glacier Peak kicked an onside and was able to recover the ball in Snohomish territory. A couple plays later the Grizzlies scored and ran it in for a two point conversion. The crowd was stunned! Glacier Peak held Snohomish and was able to score again. With some help from the referees Snohomish was able to capitalize on a big play with a second set of downs helping them finally score. That score would be the Panthers only score of the evening. The Grizzlies went on to score four more touchdowns behind Quarterback Chris Becerra. Coach Rory Rosenbaugh spread the ball out to all his receivers and running backs keeping the ball on the ground as much as in the air. The Grizzly offensive line lead by Nathan Sandstrom, Mathew Nicholson, Logan Holleman and others were the unsung heroes of the night allowing Chris Becerra to do his magic. Helping to Keep the Snohomish Panthers to only one TD were Neil Druliner, Nathan Bussing, Carson Call and a host of other talent. With a final score of 43 7, Glacier Peak Grizzlies will be the first name on the cross valley game trophy possibly called the Dick Armstrong Cup.
