THE 2012 MS. EARTH U.S.A.

The Ms. Earth International Pageant was created to celebrate the outstanding success a woman has achieved as a wife, mother, daughter, friend and community leader. Ms. Earth will be the total package: beautiful, successful, confident and driven.

Shallon has been involved in pageantry since her 180 pound weight loss in 2007 when she competed at the Mrs. Washington America Pageant winner top 10, Mrs. Washington People’s Choice and Married Woman of the year. She has won and astonishing 9 state titles, and a national 1st and 2nd runner up. Since her separation in 2010, she began competing as a “Ms.” Winning runner up in the Ms. North America Pageant in 2011. She is a supporter of local domestic violence programs and speaks out about the value of women, self-improvement and setting positive lifestyle goals.

Shallon, 48 yrs old, mother of 3 who resides in Snohomish, is a student at Everett Community College and is employed as a part time administrator at United Parcel Service in Seattle. She is this year’s recipient of the 2012 Robert and Kathryn Norris Memorial Scholarship. She graduated in 2001 from the University of Washington with a Bachelor in Science, Technology and Environment and one in Global Liberal Studies. She hopes to return next year to finish her PhD in Marine Science.

She is the proud mother of 3, Tiffany Norton 23 and 2003 Miss Washington National Teenager Sweetheart, Danyka 15 the 2010 Miss Washington National Teenager Sweetheart, and Daryia 15, who was featured earlier this month as a School Winner, Everett scholarship recipient and Washington State #1 girls high school lacrosse goalie on portability.com who all have been her inspiration to help others, especially teens in Washington State.

She has been a huge supplier of local youth athletic equipment so kids can commit to sports and exercise programs. She responded to a request from a local coach who told her that kids were coming workout after school with duct taped shoes, freezing in the weather, and their families were unable to afford to buy the gear needed. She immediately responded by collecting lost and founds from local gyms and is now participating with Gold’s, LA Fitness and 2 others. She confidentially provides like new shoes, long sleeve T-shirts, jackets, and underarmour so kids can perform well, without concerns about affording equipment, it is always free. She is proud to be helping when Snohomish County families including herself, are having such a difficult time with money. She donates the remaining equipment to Everett Community College and hopes that with the sale of the remaining equipment she will be able to fund a scholarship for someone who has changed their life with diet and exercise.

She is looking forward to her year as Ms. Earth U.S.A and is planning several trips and appearances all over the United States with her family to promote her platform and talk about how she is helping teens and their families in Snohomish County. She has already begun making appearances in the Puget Sound area and scheduling events with Cocoon House. She will be working between a busy schedule of her part time job, full time school and her family so that others can have the life and the future they deserve.
