Van GO App Deadline is Sept. 26

Snohomish County, Wash. – The deadline to apply for a van from Community Transit’s Van GO program is Friday, September 26. The agency will grant up to ten 12-passenger vans to Snohomish County non-profit organizations that will use the vehicles to help meet community transportation needs.
The Van GO program provides retired vanpool vehicles – which have reached the end of their useful life for Community Transit – to community non-profits, who then use the vehicles to meet a variety of community needs: medical appointments, job or life skills training, trips to church or other social outings. The vehicles are awarded through a competitive process in which community groups must demonstrate how they will use the vehicles to provide transportation service. Awardees will get the van at no cost but must show proof of insurance and pay to register the vehicle.
Community Transit created the Van GO program in 2000 to help meet unfilled local transportation needs in Snohomish County. Since then, 106 vehicles have been granted to local non-profit agencies. Other transit providers across the nation have introduced similar programs for their surplus vehicles.
Van GO Eligibility
Vehicles are awarded to non-profit organizations and agencies with 501(c)3 status that primarily serve residents of the Community Transit service area. This includes the Tulalip Reservation and portions of unincorporated Snohomish County, as well as all incorporated cities and towns in Snohomish County with the exception of Everett. Questions about eligibility should be directed to vango@commtrans.org or (425) 438-6136.
Applications and more details about the Van GO program are available at www.communitytransit.org/vango.
Applications that are mailed must be postmarked by Sept. 26. Electronic or hand-delivered applications must be received by 5 p.m. Sept. 26. Electronic applications must be followed by a hard copy containing the appropriate certification signatures.
