Sheriff’s Deputies Respond to Glacier Peak

After a Glacier Peak come from behind win against the Shorecrest Scots, a controversy over an alleged pat on the back between a Grizzlies staff member and a Scots basketball player arose.

We could see that something was wrong even from our vantage point in the stands.

Ron Henthorn said that there was a Shorecrest player screaming obscenities at Mark Albertine, Glacier Peak’s Athletic Director, over some type of interaction that he did not like.

Coaches and assumedly family members rushed to calm the Shorecrest player. As things progressed, other Shorecrest players began to congregate around the angry player making for a volatile situation.

Several threats leveled against Glacier Peak staff and players about confronting them as they come out of the locker-room, according to witnesses, causing Albertine to call 911.

When the Sheriff’s department arrived, they found the Shorecrest students were in fact standing at the doors exiting the gym with unknown intentions.

Seven Deputies arrived in total and began to oversee the exodus by players and fans from both schools from the Glacier Peak gym.

It is still unclear exactly what took place but according to one of the Sheriff’s deputies, it was a slap on the back from a Glacier Peak staff member on a Shrorecrest player that was taken as being derogatory.

This comes after a game that saw Shorecrest leading the entire game up until a tragic mishap to Glacier Peak senior Zack Argue. Argue went up for a rebound and fell flat back heading his head hard on the gym floor. Parents cried foul but none was given. Argue lay virtually motionless as aid ran to him on the floor.

It was quickly determined that the paramedics needed to be called. The fire department arrived quickly and began to evaluate his situation.

Twenty minutes later Zack gave the crowd thumbs up as they rolled his gurney out the door.

The Crowd went wild with Zack’s gesture and at every point GP scored thereafter. Glacier Peak won 50 to 43.

Glacier Peak staff refused to make any comment on the allegations of misconduct. We will follow up on what transpires.
