National Night Out
Published:2015-07-20 County
National Night Out Bring the whole family for an evening of free food and lots of fun as you learn how to keep your family safe at this year’s National Night Out (NNO) on Tuesday, August 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. The event will be held at Willis Tucker Community Park located at 6705 Puget Park Drive in Snohomish. Each year, local companies and nonprofits join Snohomish County and local law enforcement to provide crime-prevention information. This annual free event features onsite emergency vehicles and booths where NNO visitors will learn safety tips to increase personal and public safety. “A safe community is a healthy community,” said County Executive John Lovick. “This event gives residents an opportunity to meet new friends, gather safety tips, and meet our first responders. Not only is it a lot of fun, but it also brings our community together and gives families information to stay connected and safe.” NNO will include an event-favorite, the arrival of the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office search-and-rescue team and helicopter. Once the helicopter has landed in the adjoining ball field, everyone is welcome to get up close – and kids are welcome to sit inside the helicopter. New to this year’s event is a demonstration by the Sheriff’s Office K9 unit. Other event features include: “I look forward to National Night Out every year because it’s an opportunity for us to connect directly with Neighborhood Watch groups across the county,” said Snohomish County Sheriff Ty Trenary. “It’s a known fact that when neighbors team up with law enforcement, communities are safer. National Night Out aligns perfectly with our mission: community first, public safety always.” The event is sponsored by the Snohomish County Executive Office, Snohomish County Parks and Recreation, Community Transit, and Washington State Employees Credit Union. Partners include the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, Mill Creek Police Department, Fire Districts 1 and 7, Mill Creek Lions Club, and SnoCope Credit Union.
