Snohomish County to receive $1.75 million

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recently notified Snohomish County officials of a $1.75 million reimbursement for response efforts to the March 22, 2014 SR 530 Slide tragedy. This most recent amount will bring total federal and state reimbursements to more than $18 million.

“This is more great news for Snohomish County,” said Snohomish County Executive John Lovick. “This reimbursement money bolsters our general fund that provides critical programs, such as public safety and human services, to people in Snohomish County. We’re grateful to FEMA and state officials for working with us and on our behalf to help us continue the path to recovery.”

In addition, the county has been notified that it will receive a phase 1 award of $5.9 million from FEMA for the Snohomish County voluntary buyout project for eligible properties affected by the slide. County officials expect a phase 2 allocation to be announced in the next couple of weeks.

“Our congressional delegation has been faithful to us, advocating on our behalf and never forgetting the people of Snohomish County,” Lovick said.

Exec. Lovick’s 2016 proposed budget includes an additional $1.5 million for infrastructure projects in Arlington and Darrington in 2016 as part of Public Works’ $5 million commitment toward SR 530 recovery efforts.
