Swift College Station Will Bring Closer to Campus

Students can look forward to a shorter walk to the Edmonds Community College campus from their Community Transit bus with the opening of the Swift College Station on southbound Highway 99 at 204^th Street SW in Lynnwood.

College Station is currently under construction with an anticipated opening date in early 2016. It is the last station for the current Swift bus rapid transit line on Highway 99.

The closest existing Swift stations near the college are on southbound Highway 99 at 196^th Street (Crossroads Station) and northbound Highway 99 at 200^th Street (Heron Station). These are currently some of the busiest Swift stations, representing 11 percent of total Swift ridership—well over 600 boardings each weekday.

College Station was part of the original plan for Swift, but was deferred until the City of Lynnwood made 204^th a through street to the college and signalized the intersection earlier this year. With this new station, Swift will have 15 stops southbound and 14 stops northbound, plus terminals at Everett Station and Aurora Village.

While many students will make College Station their preferred southbound Swift stop, Crossroads Station at 196^th will remain a popular boarding location due to the Lynnwood Crossroads shopping center that was constructed after Swift went into service.

Swift launched in November 2009. It provides fast, frequent, all-day service on a 17-mile corridor between Everett Station and Aurora Village Transit Center in Shoreline. Since opening, Swift has become the agency’s most popular route, carrying more than 1.5 million riders – one in every six Community Transit customers – in 2014. Community Transit is developing a second Swift line between Paine Field and Canyon Park, which could open in 2018 if funding is approved.
