Surplus Vehicles to Be Auctioned

Snohomish County, Wash. – A number of older service vehicles will be put up for public auction this weekend, including two vans reserved specifically for 501c3 non-profit groups.

A total of 30 surplus vehicles from Community Transit’s service and DART paratransit fleet will be auctioned, in accordance with state and federal law. These vehicles were purchased with public funds and have reached the end of their useful transit life.

Two 2005 Chevy Astro vans will be auctioned at noon Friday, December 4, at a special auction for 501c3 non-profit organizations. If the vans are not sold on Friday, they will join the other surplus vehicles at an auction taking place at 9 a.m. Saturday, December 5, which is open to the general public.

The auctions will take place at the James G. Murphy auction yard at 18226 68th Avenue NE in Kenmore.

All vehicles are sold as is, with no warranty. In addition to the two vans mentioned earlier, there will be nine other Chevy or Ford vans, model year 2003-08, with approximately 107,000 to 180,000 miles on them.
The auction will also include four 2001 Chevy Blazers with approximately 93,000 to 185,000 miles, and 15 2009 Ford F450 wheel-chair lift-equipped mini-buses, which were used for DART paratransit service. Those vehicles have approximately 182,000 to 229,000 miles on them.
For more information about the auction, call James G. Murphy Co. at (425) 486-1246 or (800) 426-3008, or go to www.murphyauction.com.
Community Transit also awards surplus vehicles to local non-profit groups through the agency’s Van GO van grant program. The next Van GO award will take place in 2016. More information about Van GO visit www.communitytransit.org/VanGO.
