Sunday shooting in South Everett

EVERETT – The Everett Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting.

Just after 3 a.m. Sunday, May 15, officers responded to reports of someone shot at 9115 5th Pl. W- Unit B. When officers arrived, they found a male in the driveway of the residence who had been shot in the abdomen. The female suspect was still on scene and was taken into custody without incident. The victim was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett - Colby Campus where he underwent surgery for a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Detectives responded to the scene. Based on the initial investigation, the victim and the suspect knew each other casually and were not in a significant dating relationship. They arrived at the victim’s residence after having been at a local bar and were seated in the victim’s vehicle in the driveway when an argument took place. The suspect was jealous over text messages the victim had been receiving from other women. The victim was in possession of a 9mm Glock handgun that was in the area of the driver’s compartment. The suspect took the handgun and shot the victim once in the abdomen. There were also multiple casings found in the driveway.

The victim received medical attention at the scene from Everett Fire Department personnel before being taken to the hospital. The suspect was arrested for Assault 1st Degree. She was cooperative and was taken to Everett PD’s north precinct to be interviewed by detectives. The suspect will be booked into the Snohomish County Jail and will be arraigned Monday.

There are no outstanding suspects or victims. The victim’s condition is unknown at this time. This incident remains under investigation.
