Early Morning Drive-by Shooting

Just after 1:00 a.m. this morning Marysville officers responded to a reported drive-by shooting in the 4900 block of 135th Pl. NE., in Marysville. Residents of the home reported to police that someone had driven by and shot 5 or 6 rounds into their house and a vehicle parked in the driveway.

Witnesses in the area also reported hearing 5 or 6 shots and heard a vehicle speed off from the scene. Another witness reported the vehicle that sped off was a white colored BMW that drove away without any lights on.

Footage from video cameras in the neighborhood also showed the vehicle to be a white four-door BMW. Officers located a vehicle matching the description. They stopped and eventually impounded the vehicle for further investigation and to search it once obtaining a search warrant. The driver was interviewed and released.

There were no injuries as a result of the shooting. Detectives were called to the scene to investigate.

This afternoon around 3:00 p.m., detectives developed information identifying the suspect. While detectives were conducting surveillance of a Marysville house, the suspect left the residence as a passenger in a vehicle. A high-risk traffic stop was made on the vehicle and the suspect arrested. Officers learned the gun used in the drive-by shooting was inside the vehicle. A search warrant was served to retrieve the gun.

The suspect, a 16-year-old Marysville male, was booked into Denney Juvenile Justice Center on investigation of first-degree assault and weapons violations. He has prior felony convictions for illegal weapons possession.
