Firefighters work quickly to control flames in fatality fire

[Snohomish, WA] – At 4:22 AM this morning crews were dispatched to a residential fire with one person trapped inside the home. It was reported that there was fire coming from the TV.

Two Snohomish County Sheriff Deputies were first on scene and attempted to enter the home but were overwhelmed by the smoke. When firefighters arrived on scene they found heavy smoke coming from the residence. They worked quickly to enter the home for primary search and rescue efforts. They were able to locate the victim and remove him from the home. CPR was started but crews were unable to revive him.

Additional firefighters worked to gain control of the fire and quickly knock it down. There was heavy smoke damage throughout the home.

The victim was a male in his 90’s. The victim’s wife made it out of the home with no injuries. One deputy was treated for smoke inhalation but was not transported. No other injuries were reported.

The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s office is on scene investigating the cause of the fire. Update on cause of fire will come from Snohomish Fire District #4.
