Edmonds Center for the Arts Presents Skerryvore

Hailed as the most promising young band in Scotland today, Skerryvore will be performing at Edmonds Center for the Arts (ECA) on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 7:30 pm.

The final show in ECA’s new Summer Engagement series, Skerryvore are a multi-award winning Scottish band that blends traditional music with the urban sounds of rock, pop and funk. Happy Hour on ECA’s outdoor patio will take place from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.
Skerryvore first formed on the tiny Isle of Tiree off Scotland’s west coast in 2005. Back then, the band consisted of Tiree-born brothers Daniel Gillespie (accordion) and Martin Gillespie (bagpipes, whistles & accordion) who bonded with holidaymaker Fraser West (drums & vocals) and friend Alec Dalglish (lead vocals & guitar) over a shared love of music: everything from traditional to rock and jazz It was this mix of musical styles and sounds that set the path for the band’s 2005 debut album, West Coast Life. The more the fledgling band experimented with fusing together this mix of musical styles, the more their signature sound evolved, aided by the arrival of Barry Caulfield (bass & vocals) and Craig Espie (fiddle) in time for their second album, On the Road, in 2007.
It was with the release of self-titled third album, Skerryvore, that the band found themselves catapulted into the musical limelight winning a string of prestigious awards, including SNMA Record of the Year 2011 and STMA Live Act of the Year 2011, and garnering much critical acclaim.
Tickets: $19-$49, $15 youth/student, 10% discount for seniors and military. Please call the ECA Box Office at 425-275-9595, go online at www.ec4arts.org or visit us in person at the ECA Box Office, located at 410 Fourth Avenue North. ECA is a proud member of TeenTix, and offers $5 tickets to teens at the Box Office on the day of the performance, pending availability. To become a TeenTix member, register at www.teentix.org.
