Art & Photo Contests
Snohomish County PUD today announced the names of 17 local students who won awards in the utilitys 2018 art and photography competitions. The contests are designed to engage students and the community in energy topics. Students from 35 local schools submitted entries this year.
Art Contest Winners
The art contest challenged students to create a poster with the theme of PUD in your community. Twelve students won awards as follows:
- Reaghan Higuera-Lyons Kindergarten Index Elementary
- Michelle O'Malley Grade 2 Holy Rosary School
- Lola Gordon Grade 3 Index Elementary
- Cordelia Alford Grade 4 Twin City Elementary
- Cade Farmer Grade 5 Serene Lake Elementary
- Kira Thompson Grade 5 Serene Lake Elementary
- Nanako Kempma Grade 6 Tenth Street Middle School
- Raquel Lara Grade 6 Tenth Street Middle School
- Jasmine Ballesteros Grade 8 Eisenhower Middle School
- Henry Gordon Grade 8 Index Elementary
- Paige Johnson Grade 9 Glacier Peak High School
- Saige Skuja Grade 9 Glacier Peak High School
Photography Contest
For the PUD photography contest, high school students were challenged to capture the theme of Energy in Action in a photograph. Five students won awards, as follows:
- Lillian Castanera Grade 9 Stanwood High School
- Valarie Vancleve Grade 10 Lake Stevens High School
- Anna Muszynski Grade 11 Glacier Peak High School
- Shelby Nelson Grade 11 Snohomish High School
- Shelby Northen Grade 12 Glacier Peak High School
The winners of the competitions will be recognized at the April 24, 2018, PUD Board of Commissioners meeting. The art and photography contest winners entries will be on display through Friday, April 27, 2018, in the lobby of the PUDs Everett headquarters at 2320 California Street. They also are posted on the PUD website at www.snopud.com (click on Education/Contests & Camps).
