Homicide investigation in Everett

EVERETT, WA – Major Crimes detectives continue investigating an Everett homicide.

At about 3:15 p.m. yesterday, officers were dispatched to Langus Riverfront Park (411 Smith Island Rd) on the reports of gunfire. Arriving officers discovered a male had been shot inside a car and immediately administered life-saving measures. Unfortunately, the injury was fatal and the male died at the scene.

Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit are investigating the homicide. They collected evidence and continue interviewing witnesses to develop a timeline of events and identify a possible suspect(s). Initial reports indicated a SUV fled the scene. Detectives do not believe the homicide was a random event.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office took custody of the deceased male, believed to be in his 50’s, and will determine identity as well as cause and manner of death. Once the family has been notified, the Medical Examiner’s Office will publicly release his identity.

Langus Riverfront Park was closed to the public for several hours during the investigation.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Everett Police Department Tip Line at 425-257-8450.
