Red Rooster Route
A new self-guided farm tour is available in the Arlington area. Open from May 1st this year, visitors to the six family farms on the Red Rooster Route farm tour will find scores of family adventures ranging from picking your own summer berries and vegetables and learning about naturally-grown food to trolley rides and hay mazes for kids!

The Red Rooster Route is a marketing partnership of six local family farms including Biringer Farm, Bryant Blueberry Farm & Nursery, Fosters Produce & Corn Maze, Garden Treasures Nursery & Organic Farm, Lavender Hills Farm and Ninety Farm which collaborate to promote agri-tourism in the Arlington area. Arlington has a long history of generational farms and our groups goal is to give local families as well as families in outlying areas a venue for play dates and fun day excursions. says Connie Foster from Fosters Produce & Corn Maze. Its a chance to experience the family farm&.an experience that has been lost to many generations.

The Red Rooster Route offers a wide variety of agri-tourism destinations that can be found with an easy to follow road map that takes you through the back country and directs you to local farms. Visitors to the six farms on the Red Rooster Route will find that the farm tour has everything to offer from locally grown berries and sweet corn to u-pick lavender, organic produce, eye-catching plants for your gardening needs, farm markets, kids activities and gourmet foods and ice cream. The Red Rooster Route farm tour is a great staycation for families, couples and groups this spring and summer. states Foster. People are beginning to explore their own backyards due to the current economy and eat local movement which helps sustain local family farms for more generations to enjoy.

The Red Rooster Route Farm Tour is kicking off the start of its spring & summer season with the following special events and farm activities; Flower Festival during Mother's Day weekend at Foster's Produce & Corn Maze and Garden Treasures during the weekend of May 9-10 from 9am to 6pm, The Strawberry Festival at Biringer Farm and Garden Treasures during the weekend of June 27-28 from 10am to 5pm,The Lavender Festival at Lavender Hills Farm on Saturday, July 11 from 10am to 5pm, and The Blueberry Festival at Bryant Blueberry Farm & Nursery on Saturday August 1st from 8am to 4pm. Would emergency crews be able to find you if you needed help? In an emergency, every second counts, and there is no better way to ensure a quick response than to have your address clearly marked.

Pumpkins Fly Sky High in Snohomish, WA Pumpkins Fly Sky High in Snohomish, WA
Most of us don't start thinking about pumpkins until the month of October. And then it's usually about carving them or cooking them into delicious pies. But in Snohomish, WA, they start in September with an unusual way to launch the season&literally, by sending sky-high those golden gourds that symbolize fall.

Material girl Michelle Obama is a modern-day Marie Antoinette

Material girl Michelle Obama is a modern-day Marie Antoinette on a glitzy Spanish vacation.
Sacrifice is something that many Americans are becoming all too familiar with during this economic downturn. It was a key theme in President Obama's inaugural address to the nation, and he's referenced it numerous times when lecturing the country on how to get back on its feet.

But while most of the country is pinching pennies and downsizing summer sojourns - or forgoing them altogether - the Obamas don't seem to be heeding their own advice. While many of us are struggling, the First Lady is spending the next few days in a five-star hotel on the chic Costa del Sol in southern Spain with 40 of her "closest friends."
