Lake Stevens Mayor Vern Little announced his candidacy for Snohomish County Council in the 5th Council District against incumbent Dave Somers. Our council district suffers from a lack of leadership, said Mayor Little. Because of the councils lack of fiscal restraint, the county has a budget crisis that has resulted in cuts to core services to taxpayers. Vern Little is a Senior Quality Manager for the Boeing Company where he has worked for over 30 years. He is responsible for an organization of 140 employees, as well as developing and managing a budget of several million dollars. My career at Boeing is where I developed solid communication, team building and leadership skills that have served me well as Mayor, said Little. The combination of public and private sector experience makes me uniquely qualified to serve on the County Council. Mayor Little previously served on the Lake Stevens City Council. He is Past-President of the Lake Stevens Junior Athletic Club, where he was an active member for 13 years. He also coached Basketball, Baseball and Football for several years. Little is a member of the Lake Stevens Lions Club and honorary member of Rotary International. Little serves as Co-Chair of Snohomish County Tomorrow, Snohomish Countys growth management advisory council that deals with countywide planning issues. He is a member of the Department of Emergency Management. Vern and his wife, Kathy, are the proud parents of four grown children and the grandparents of four with the fifth on the way soon.
A formal kickoff is planned for Tuesday, June 23rd, from 6-8PM at 2008 123rd AVE NE, Lake Stevens, WA 98258
