FBI Investigates Snohomish Tower Toppling    Print Snohomish Times     Photos

Snohomish was the scene of a domestic terrorist attack this morning as two towers belonging to KRKO were sent to the ground. Early reports say that the Earth liberation front is taking credit for the attack.

The domestic terrorist-vandals used a stolen track hoe to topple the two Towers near Snohomish, the FBI, Snohomish County Sheriff and other local authorities were on the scene trying to determine what evidence could be used to track the terrorists now.

Three members of the Skotdal family were on hand helping the authorities sort out what had happened and giving them information on any threats they may have received.

The KRKO radio towers are the latest in Snohomish Valley protests that have gone on in recent years. Some of the same key people involved in the protests of Harvey Field runway expansion are also the key people in the radio tower protest. During the South Snohomish UGA property rights battle there was also some covert activity going on. The floodwaters that were trapped in the South UGA during the period of controversy were kept there longer in order to further the campaign against the South Snohomish UGA by damaging one of the dams that allows the water to escape.

There is no confirmation that the same individuals that damaged the flood dam are the same individuals that brought down the two Towers. Reports in this case say that there was a banner left at the scene with the initials ELF or Earth liberation front, the FBI describes them as a terrorist group.

The sports radio station KRKO transfer its signal to a different tower and remained on the air, no disruption in service was attained by this act of domestic terrorism. These towers will be re-erected and will be reenergized to transmit KRKO's signal once again.

If anyone has information on the individuals responsible for this domestic terrorist act are encouraged to contact the Snohomish County Sheriff's office.
