The City of Snohomish has advertised a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for design of the Centennial Trail Extension. Initial work to be performed by the consultant consists of preparing preliminary engineering and plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for construction of the Centennial Trail Extension, located between the Snohomish County Centennial Trail at Pine Avenue and Bowen Street, within the former rail corridor. Additional services may be added for the project in the future, including preparation of construction documents, bidding assistance, and construction engineering. The submittal deadline is 10:00 a.m. February 23, 2010. Dates of publication of the RFQ in the Herald and the Daily Journal of Commerce are January 26 and February 2. The proposed improvements include a 12-wide asphalt trail, parking facilities, frontage improvements at street crossings, approximately four acres of landscaping, park signage, and related park amenities. The construction budget is currently $725,000. Major features of the project are as follows:
