Glacier Peak high school drama department is performing its first ever musical, 'the Music Man'. Opening night is Friday, April 16 with additional performances on April 17, 23rd and 24th.

The Music Man directed by Ms. Browning tells the story of traveling salesman, Harold Hill, played by David Jorgensen, and his visit to a small Iowa town called River City in 1912.

This is where he meets and falls in love with the willful, spinster librarian, Marian Paroo, played by Annie Burdette. With his fast-talking style, "Professor" Harold Hill convinces the town that unless they adopt his revolutionary music program, the youngsters of River City will be forever doomed. He gets the parents to buy instruments and expensive uniforms in order to form the River City Boys Band.

Chaos ensues as Hill's credentials are questioned and he is called upon to prove himself to the citizens of River City. In the end, Hill must choose between money and his love for Marian Paroo. I was able to visit Glacier Peak on Friday for a sneak peek at their first dress rehearsal and I was amazed with the level of commitment that these students have shown in their first musical production.

The orchestra directed by Mr. Tadd Morris and costumes by Carol Robinson, Dana Fadenrecht, Elizabeth Power, Joan Hemm and Jen Stallings all contributed to making this a fabulous production. Please click on the VIDEO and PHOTO links above to see what a fantastic job done in preparing for their first musical.

Ms. Browning should be proud of her students and parents for the hundreds of hours dedicated to this production.

Tickets are available through the GPHS bookkeeper or at www.glacierpeakdrama.org and at the door. All shows begin promptly at 730pm.

We will be highlighting scenes from the musical all this week on video.
