12th-Seeded Huskies To Host Seattle Regional

The Huskies have earned the No. 12 seed to the NCAA Tournament and will host the Seattle Regional, as announced on the NCAA Selection Show on ESPNU on Sunday night.

The Huskies (33-13) will begin the Seattle Regional at Husky Softball Stadium on Thursday, May 15 vs. the Iona Gaels (24-22) in the second of two games that day. The Huskies have never before faced the Gaels.
“It’s great that we have some momentum going into this time of the year,” head coachHeather Tarr said. “We are really excited for our fans to see us play again at home.”

The regional will begin on Thursday with the BYU Cougars (33-21) taking on the Northwestern Wildcats (33-16). The regional will continue with games on Friday and the championship on Saturday. Game times will be announced later. For more information on tickets, visit GoHuskies.com, or call the Husky Ticket Office at 206-543-2200.

The Huskies are making their 21st consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament and 10th straight appearance under the leadership of Tarr, who is in her 10th season as head coach.

This is the 5th consecutive year the Huskies have hosted a Regional tournament and the 6th overall in Tarr’s 10 seasons.

The Huskies enter the tournament having won 9 of their last 10 games and 12 of their past 15 games, since April 1.
