AMHS breaks ground on artificial turf

It brings Archbishop Murphy High School great pleasure to announce the installment of a turf field at Terry Ennis Stadium. The campus enhancement comes from a donation made by an anonymous benefactor in Terry Ennis’ name.

“As an athletic department we are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our donors. We know this gift will help cement Terry Ennis’ legacy and keep us connected to the heart of our Athletics program,” said AMHS Athletic Director Erick Streelman.

While there is no date set for breaking ground, the project is slated to be completed before the start of spring sports season and will take seven weeks to install. Preliminary plans for the project include the AMHS wildcat logo in the center of the field.

The improved facilities will benefit many athletic programs, including boys and girls soccer, football, and the lacrosse program (inaugural lacrosse seasons begins spring 2015). This new surface will also increase the safety of the lower field for all students.

Prior to the field turf project, Terry Ennis Stadium improvements have occurred over the last 10 years, including the addition of stadium lights, a press box, and bleachers. The most recent field update was done in 2009, with new sod from the Seattle Sounders v Manchester United Game.
