Edmonds Center for the Arts presents the Ahn-believable Ahn Trio

The critically-acclaimed Ahn Trio will perform selections from their award-winning repertoire on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. at Edmonds Center for the Arts (ECA).

Known for their modern alternative compositions, the Ahn Trio sisters – cellist Maria, pianist Lucia, and violinist Angella – bring new life to standard piano trio literature, reinterpreting how classical music is traditionally perceived. Born in Seoul, Korea, the Ahn sisters traveled to the U.S. at a young age to study at The Julliard School.

Ahn Trio has won several prestigious awards, including the grand prize in the 1992 Alliance Northeast Competition for Chamber Ensembles, first prize in the Coleman Chamber Music Competition, and finalist status in the Naumburg Chamber Music Competition. Their first recording won the ECHO Award, Germany’s most coveted recording award.

The Trio made its first public ensemble appearance on Korean TV in 1979, and in 1987, Time magazine dubbed the group “Asian American Whiz Kids.” Ahn Trio has since been featured in both print and visual media, including The New York Times, Vogue, Town & Country, MTV, GQ, The Oxygen Channel and PBS.

As part of ECA’s Education & Outreach programming, Ahn Trio will give a free performance at Mountlake Terrace High School the morning of January 9th. The trio will perform a selection of their repertoire, and invite students to ask questions in this interactive program.

Tickets to Ahn Trio are $39, $34, & $29 and $15 for youth/students. Purchase online at www.ec4arts.org, call 425.275.9595, or visit the ECA Box Office at 410 Fourth Avenue North. ECA is a proud member of TeenTix, and offers $5 tickets to teens at the Box Office on the day of the performance, pending availability. To become a TeenTix member, register at www.teentix.org.
