Multiple vehicle collision

EVERETT, WA – Detectives with the Traffic Safety Unit and EPD Patrol Officers are investigating a six vehicle series of collisions that injured several community members.

At about 7:30 pm on July 22, officers responded to the report of a collision on Broadway Ave between Everett Avenue and California St. Arriving officers found several injured and one vehicle on fire. Community members on scene were assisting with putting out the fire. Everett Fire Department arrived on scene to extinguish the flames on one of the involved vehicles.

Initial reports indicate that a dark colored pickup was seen driving at a high rate of speed prior to the collisions. Open alcohol containers were visible in the pickup truck. Investigators and patrol took information from several witnesses.

Six involved parties were transported by medic unit and ambulance to Providence hospital for injuries. Others involved in the collisions went by personal vehicle for care. Eight people were treated at the hospital as a result of this incident. Ages range from 13 to 55 years of age. All involved people including the driver of the pickup are from the Everett area. The driver of the pickup is in his mid 20’s. He was later transported to Harborview with serious injuries.

Roadway was closed for about four hours. The investigation is on-going and it is believed that alcohol and speed played a factor in this series of collisions.

Six vehicles were impounded as evidence.
